Maple Flavored Jerky

A recipe that we are trying this year and we hear is one of the best for Maple Jerky.

  • 3 Pounds Venison sliced into 1/4 inch strips
  • 1 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 4-6 Tbsp Course Black Pepper
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • 3 Tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1/3 tsp Salt
  1. Combine the ingredients and marinate the venison jerky for 12-24 hours in the refrigerator. Dry the venison jerky using your favorite method.  Ours is to hang the jerky in strips by tooth picks from the top oven rack. The oven is heated to 170 degrees and we dry the jerky for 8 to 10 hours. We place a wooden spoon in the top of the oven door to prop the door slightly open.

    Line the bottom of the oven with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
